Nathan.....NathanRahl, you certainly are doing something about it..but you got your "wires" crossed cuz...to do something means to adapt your self to your work environment..and to accomplished the goal...not to self satisfy or to force change..you would do well to learn to set examples while holding a line as to what an employee is willing to do..I would guess from your post that you have had less than a successful time at dealing with this cultural and now it is time to lash out at any person who gives you advice or makes a comment that deter you away from self pity and the helplessness you may feel her at the hands of a layer of society
that has mistreated you. It is time to take responsibility for your own direction and time to stand on your own..not to enlist the help, in your ever so vague way, of those who have been stronger than you could be...and to Identify me as a liberal .... well that is just plane stupid and uninformed... |
Blah bla blah cj750, another wonderful example of ebonics for kids. You my friend are a prime example of why horses and donkeys should not procreate. I have yet to hear such high and mighty, preaching from the mound, self serving, idealising twaddle. You my friend, I think should qualify for the Jesus award. Perhaps next you can turn water to wine, or make enough food from a fish and some bread to feed us all. Gimmie a break pal, LOL, you seem to think your some kind of wise all knowing prophet. All I see is some down and out pin head who needs to speak on high when online to feel like he is someone special. Sorry, did not come here to be preached to, you go in the iggy bin with the rest of the idealists, notice I did not say "realist" pin heads. This is what happens when someone reads too many books on psychology, yet doesn't get the education to understand any of it, a suedo intellectual, who thinks that from just a few words he can read and analise you, right down to the core. Sorry Pal, but Frasier you ain't. Hell, you don't even qualify as Frasiers inadequete brother Niles. And, were we to use the quality of your insults to measure intelligence on the insulto meter, I would say you rank somewhere around medium sized melon, slightly over ripe of course. Get some new material if you want to trade barbs with me pal. Oh, and one other thing, your words and insights are way too personal I think to speak of anyone else, I think your just projecting, and talking about yourself. Oh my, see, your not the only one who can psychoanalize, though I did more then actually read some books, unlike some, eh yoda Later gator, not. |

I didn't see any ebonics.
Or were you referring to your own appalling spelling, Nathan? I sure hope you don't really teach English.
CJ's intelligence is not in dispute, except by some young pup full of himself and convinced that his own insights are superior to everyone else's. The type of moron who comes on inviting discussion, then proceeds to attack everyone who takes him up on it. |

I sure see you do a lot of attacking, and have seen you do so on many of your posts. I think you can't handle being challenged my Cassius Clay Draft dodger loving friend |

Yeah, ol' MM should've run along to Vietnam to pop a few Viets for thinking they could have some say in running their own country. How dare he say no!
Oh, and don't be scared... I'm not a bad guy... really. |

| I have to agree with Shan Shan I am afraid. It is very easy to paint a rosy picture when you are one of the few who has found some happiness and a good job here. The reality though is that most who come here do not have that final good outcome. |
Here's my two bobs worth.
Try and identify what you like in a teaching environment. Of all the teaching posts I have had, the ones I enjoyed the most are the following:
I have had blissful experiences teaching 4-6 year olds in a language centre. Building of friendships and rapport with little friends, and seeing the improvement in children from week to week. Yew Wah was the school, a wonderful western managed language center chain in Shanghai. That was my experience. The school is only as good as its management, that was great.
Teaching university can be awesome too. Eager students are just the best, they are excited about learning. The salary a little low, about 4,000 but the quality of the accommodation was good. One thing I must point out is there was no security. People can come and go when they please, strangers can knock on your door. The school is only as good as its management. I had an old Dean with pitiful old thinking.
I think more so than the students, is your attitude. You can make an awful situation become a wonderful experience. Even teaching at Kids Castle (KCF) can be wonderful, if you keep out of the politics, and just concentrate on educating the kids. I had an awesome experience teaching kinder at one KCF, which was Taiwanese owned. One out of 4 is not bad. |

Quick piece of advice. If you're looking to join an EF school, go directly through the school's recruiter. It's seemingly almost impossible to go through the head office website. Each school recruits on it's own and the individual people are much friendlier. |
