I've been asked to prepare a lesson for a very small (three kids) class of kids who have special needs. They are all physically able-bodied, but their mental abilities are not great.
All I know is it has to be about 40 minutes long, fun (naturally) and not too difficult for them.
Has anyone had experience in this field? Some lesson ideas / plans would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

colours, numbers. Practical things like getting them to draw pictures and identify things in English are good. Songs too. |

Any idea on the specific disabilities the kids have? Do you have information on what they've previously been taught?
Since it's such a small group, making game cards shouldn't be too onerous. A couple of ideas would be sugoroku or karuta (slap), something where they're already familiar with the rules in Japanese. I work at a school for the blind, and I often play a game where I attach a magnet on a string to a pen, and make them "fish" for cards with paper clips attached to them. Once they find one, they have to read it and ask a quesiton with the card.
Coloured balls are also great...and yeah, anything with chants! |
