Hi Philyyy:

I read your post regarding IH in Bydgoszcz. The DOS just contacted me and is interested in my CV. I am considering goign there if the application process goes well.

Would you be so kind as to tell me more (advantages/disadvatanges) of both the school and the city. I was there a few years back but only spent a few blurry nights in the city.

I'm interested in things like:

-IH pay
-accomodation
-treatment
-workload
-how much i could save

ETC.....

Thanks alot man
AKS

Great. Live like a student but work like a professional. No wonder so many school owners think that they can keep more than 50% of the money for themselves.

You will save NOTHING on that salary. The housing is shared and not of modern stock. You will work 24 hours a week. You will be treated ok and paid on time. When I worked there you were paid through Glenrex in the UK a front firm which only exists on paper. That means they pay you what the UK minimum untaxable income is or something close. This means they do not pay any tax but use your tax allowance.
People who tell you the salary is ok are either very tight people, nuns or priests who live a life without sin or people who want you to work there....it's 300 quid in a country where imported things (ie good quality) are often more expensive than the UK.Wise up....you sound a bit green to me.Trust me 'good local salary' always means you will be skint.

Hi! I got your message. I indeed worked there last year and the wages were enough to live off but as it has been said it's not enough to save if you are thinking about taking the money back to Britain etc. But the training's good, the DOS is helpful, the people are friendly and there's lots to do and see in Bydgoszcz and Poland. So I say go for it and I hope to say hello to you soon!

The ideal rule in business is that a third goes on overheads, a third goes on staff costs, and a third is repayment of loans, capital reserve, corporation tax, then profits for the owner, In the in-company EFL market, it isn't nearly as fortunate as that for the school owners. Sad

If the owner of a language school is trousering 50% after/without tax, he/she is surely a lucky person. But probably very, very dodgy.

By the way, I just saw an ad for a native speaker offering 40pln per 60 mins. In Łdż. The owner of that school must be laughing.
