Before anyone bitches along the line of "ZOMG u dont know what a CAE is"

Polish students like to measure their success. For some reason the British Council-run exam certificates of FCE, CAE and, sometimes, CPE are highly valued among students; they're seen as tickets to better employment (and, considering Polands unemployment problem, they do sometimes actually carry some weight.)

FCE is the standard exam - First Certificate in English. You can talk about history, the environment and tell the police exactly what crime the guy who stole your wallet commited.
CAE is the next level up. You can now write particularly snotty letters to your local newspaper about the state of the environment and the level of crimes in your city, and include suggestions as to what should be done.
CPE is the proficiency level, where one realises that no-one really wants to talk about the environment or crime, and in fact all those phrasal verbs are just there to make the Eastenders script shorter.

I've never heard of a student being penalised for using Americanisms during these exams (I'd love to get some concrete information on that)

Anyway, to bring this back on track: Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, and the TroiMiasto areas are the ones that crop up most as "newbie-friendly" - wages fluctuate from 35zl per 60min to 50zl per 45min, depending on who you believe. My first job in Warsaw paid for my flat and I got a fixed 3000 a month - that was 2 years ago, so wages should have gone up by now.
