I'm a British teacher with a TESOL cert and 3 years experience. I'm thinking of going to Madrid in late September (I can't make it sooner). What are the chances that I'll find work? I don't have much Spanish by the way.
Alternatively, I might put off heading to Spain for now and go in January? Good time for finding work? What do you reckon? |

Both are good times: many companies don't get their act together for scheduling classes until the end of September, so if you're here around the first of October you'll be fine. January is also a good time, not as big, but a lot of teachers go home for Christmas and don't come back, although what that says about the quality of the jobs they're leaving is possibly not that good. There is always work around in Madrid, and you can always pick up private classes out of holiday season until your company classes schedule gets going. |

hi. im in Barcelona now & there are loads of jobs around at the minute. From speaking to friends even by the end of September the work starts to dry up a bit, although many schools do not actually start until then & dont know definite numbers of students or teachers needed until then, so you could be in luck. Also it seems that quite a few people drop out of their jobs at the start of October so again you could be lucky.
Personally i emailed my CV to lots of schools before i arrived - you could try this & see if you get any responses. Hope that helps a bit |
