How is the situation in Guangxi. That is, how is the job market, the way of life? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Just my hunch, but you met a woman on the internet from Nanning, right?
I suggest you do a search here of these pages, - China Job Forum and Off-Topic Forum. Maybe keywords such as Guangxi, Nanning, Yangshou, Guilin, Beihai, Liuzhou will bring up some posts and names of schools. You can do some internet searches on job sites and find stuff too.
If I'm right about my hunch, good luck, and be careful. |

Salaries are generally low, but so's the cost of living [can't speak for Nanning though]. Great scenery, both natural [aroung Yangshuo] and manmade [Long Ji rice terraces]. Many of China's minorities live there, and it's less developed than many places: great for the traveler, not so much so for the dedicated expat. looking for home comforts. Sub tropical climate, but winter can bite. Food like Hunan's; they love chillis.
Check out Guilin. There's always a few jobs on www.chinatefl.com |

It would be interesting to know why you want to go to Guangxi.
I agree it is one of the more scenic parts of the country, but living in rural China has lots of downsides. In the end, you will envy those who have a job in the city. Guangxi cities are not the most attractive, with the exception, perhaps, of Guilin (mightily spruced up pver the last 4 years), but relatively poor nevertheless, which is often well reflected in salaries.
Apart from Guilin, there is Beihai, but to my knowledge, it is a bit risky accepting a job there. Nanning might be another option, but it's not a Paris of China to behold!
The only re3deeming factor is scenery en route between these cities. |

You obviously don't know Nanning and Guangxi. Men by the large boatloads are heading that way -snared by the power of the net - in search of employment until that two year period which they can repatriate their new spouse. Some stories turn out well, some don't. People just need to know what they are in for. Glad the poster is trying to do just that. (No assumption as the proof is in the mailbox.)
Cheers! |

I have been in Beihai for close to a year now, working for a private school. The air is fresh, seafood very cheap (as long as you avoid the restaurants and eat outdoors, better anyways, palm trees everywhere, very laidback and friendly people. The only problem I have, is understanding the local language, Beihaihua, and being that my Chinese is pretty poor, I can speak, but rarely answer their questions. Plenty of beaches, not like Thailand, but clean. Guilin is pretty, with Yongshou nearby, more to do than a city like Beihai, and can't say much about Nanning, everytime I have been there, it has been rainy and that didn't add much to the attraction of the place. |
