If anyone lives in Fukuoka or Osaka, I seriously need your help. I'm looking for a Japanese Chin puppy. They look like this:
I live in a country nearby and I have scoured the whole country (almost one year) to find one to buy. There are NONE over here and I mean absolutely NONE. I will come to Japan to buy one. I'm looking for a black and white female. I know they are very expensive but I'm willing to make a special trip to find a very special puppy. If anyone knows of a good breeder or where to find one in Fukuoka or Osaka, I'd be eternally greatful for your help. I could make the trip as early as the first week of October.
Note: do not ask puppy stores of they have a "Japanese Chin" as this will provoke laughter and embarassment. I have no idea what the Japanese people call these dogs. Everywhere else in the world, they are registered and called "Japanese Chin." |

If you stutter and say "chin.. . chin" They will laugh alot !!!  Becuase it means some part of someone's anatomy!  |

Was it a Ringo or a George?
I know those beetles with the horns are really really popular and easy to maintain as pets.
But I have never heard of anyone who collects Beatles.  |

| Well, I finally found my Japanese Chin puppy today (only took a few YEARS)! He's a real cutie! Now I just need to think of a name. |

Well I brought Bella home last week and all has been well so far. All of your comments are legit, and trust me I thought long and hard before making my final deciaion. Getting a puppy was a big dicission, but ultimatly a rewarding one. I have all of her shots schedualed and I am looking into flying her home with me at Christmas to have her spayed there. Less hassle. The whole quarentine issue is not a problem going into Canada, but she might be held for up to 12 hours coming back into Japan. Because she is from Japan and all of her shots/papers are from here, it should not be a problem. Having said that and knowing the Japanese, I am sure it will be a pain in the ass, but she is worth it.
I appreciate the balances advice. I will keep you updated. |

Congratualations on the new puppy. I certainly hope your experience turns out much better than mine. My puppy got sick the first night with vomiting, the runs, off food, coughing, sneezing etc. so first thing I did after teaching my morning class was get him into the vet right away. He tested positive for the parvo AND corona viruses along with respiratory distress, dehydration etc. The vet only gave him a 1 percent chance to survive with expensive medical treatment. I was advised to take him back to the place where I bought him. They wouldn't give me my money back. They wanted to change the dog but the vet said the viruses are all over my home now and I should clean and wait for two months before getting a dog. And to make all matters worse, I found out that the corona viruse can transfer from infected animals to humans and it's related to SARS. I am heartbroken. If anyone is out there reading this... please get your puppy and kittens tested BEFORE you pay your money. Go to the vet and see the test for yourself. Save yourself the agony I have endured. Looking at dogs will NEVER be the same again. |

Where did you buy this dog? |
From an evil pet store. It was the only place in the whole country that I live in that had a Japanese Chin. The vet said the viruses are very common in this country and even if you bought it from a breeder or got one from a shelter there are no guarantees. Also the viruses stay dormat for many days when a test can't distinguish the diseases. |

I take it the country is Thailand.
Even here in Japan some of the conditions that animals are kept in at pet shops are a disgrace. Giving money to these people only encourages this behaviour. I am strongly against buying animals from such people even if the motive behind it is to "rescue" the animal from its conditions. Any animal bought from these places only frees up a space for another animal to be filled with. |
