What up everybody! Hope you are all doing grand! I can't wait for my first puente!

Question: Where can you find listings for apartments in Mexico City?

I have a friend who is living in San Angel and she isn't very happy with the apartment her school arranged for her. It's not horrible, but it is the equivalent of a small university dorm room. It has a private bathroom, but the shower soaks everything anytime it is used. It's especially annoying when she wants to try to cook. There is no room for prep and she has to wash any dishes she uses in her tiny bathroom sink (kind of a pain, not to mention a little bit sick). She also has Uni neighbors who like to party. Sucks when you have to get up early to teach elementary school at 7:30. The area is very nice. The rent is 3500 per month, which I understand is reasonable. In case you are wondering, she'd like to stay as close to San Angel as possible. Just trying to help a fellow expat teacher in need.

I know it's not the same to compare, but I pay 3500 in Queretaro and my place is almost three times as big as hers, plus I have a kitchen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Paz

San Angel is pretty swanky...3500 there is a steal. Anything nicer or bigger in the same area could cost twice as much.

She could look in adjoining colonias and do a bit better...Coyoacan, Copilco, Napoles, Del Valle, closer to Taxquea, and areas just above UNAM.

Segundamano is the place to find listings. The paper comes out Mondays and Thursdays with new listings. Their online version is not nearly as up-to-date or extensive as the paper copy.

Craigs List for Mexico City may also be an option to check out.

check craigslist but know that most of the placest listed on their are inflated. you'll see what i mean when you compare them to segundamano (el universal is also good as a print source).
either way you are in for a fun fun fun fun weekend.

Hey...

I live on Av. Universidad in Coyacan (Oxtapulco, Coyocan is on my address..I'm still a little confused by that! hehe) and am a short walk to San Angel....my 2 bedroom, 2 bath, spacious apt is just over double what your friend is paying. Works well for me thought as I'm on the ground floor and Tequila can use our patio for any 'need' when Im at work and there is a good park nearby for walking. AS well, I'm sandwiched betweeen 2 walmarts for all my shopping needs...not necessarly where I want to buy all my stuff but....it works!

Hope that helps!
