Come on, someone posts about a school and several people try to jump to the defense of the schools. Where is giving the poster the benefit of the doubt? Good thing that there is at least one blacklist out there that is pro-teacher.

griswald,

hehe, i am actually glad someone noticed that (the one year 'anniversary' thing).

Nick and I are not the same person believe me, he's from Canada for starters and I'm from Australia.

I only noticed the fact that I'd posted that reply exactly one year later AFTER i sent the reply. I mean, do you really think I would come back here EXACTLY one year later to post a reply to my own message???? hahahahaha that's crazy. Don't you think 'I' would have posted a LOT more messages to stress my intention rather than post one message every year on the same day? crazy talk.

I can agree on the other's thinking that Nick and I are just some Chinese people working in a school in Nanchang trying to diss Kid Castle. The fact of the matter is, we're about as chinese as a meat pie.

It's pretty sad to see so many would be literati wasting their time over the trivialities of some guys poor grammar or a few type-o s. BearCanada, you seriously need to get a life, If you had ever completed an ESL, TEFL or any other equivalent certification of that nature you would realise that error and mistake have two different meanings in language teaching terminology. (as pointed out previously)

As for getting back to the original post, I can pretty much guarantee that Mr. Nick is a real life "lao wai" and not some undercover chinese usurper. I understand that it does not convey a very good image of the quality of foreign teachers here in China when a person posts something of this nature with so many "mistakes" in it, but I am sure that this was posted in the heat of the moment and probably not too long after the last incident itself took place so we can forgive a few "mistakes" when we take the overall context of the passage into account.

By the way, working as a full time teacher in Kid Castle in Nanchang goes pretty much exactly as described by Mr. Nick, although part time work there is actually much better, less office hours, higher hourly rates. (Doesn't really make sense to pay your part time teachers more than your full time ones, especially when some of them are teaching as many hours as a full time teacher, but there you go, why fix it when it's so obviously F#$#%d up.)

The OP goes along with every other Kidcastle experience I have heard of and experienced myself.

Avoid the chain completely.

not referring to KK but as to this statement standing alone...

full time usually has other benefits that would not be incl. in an hourly wage...

Yes, you would usually be correct in assuming that, but the Kid Castle contract offers no yearly travel allowance, almost no holidays during your 12 month contract(in comparison to a teaching position at a university) and a six day working week.
They will also(or so I have heard from various teachers who have worked at the Nanchang branch)try to stiff you on your airline ticket by not paying the fare from the city in which you are situated but from Shanghai or Hong Kong or wherever the nearest direct flight to your homeland is located.
Part time teachers there do half the amount of office hours and get upwards of 20RMB per class EXTRA than the full time teachers, over a period of a year that adds up(especially when some part timers are doing 16-20 classes a week) and rends these added "bonuses" of being a full time teacher pretty much redundant.
