So I've been looking all over these boards for days now and one thing seems to stand out: TEFLers (those that don't save) spend most of their spare money on alcohol and clubbing. It would stand to reason then if you weren't much of a drinker, you could do okay financially. Laughing

Sounds about right to me Very Happy In Japan, those that go out clubbing every night looking for young ladeis and stuff end up on a diet of plain rice a week before payday and those that stay in and study kanji have healthy bodies and bank balances! Cool

That's encouraging. At 42, I've gotten most of the partying out of my system. This probably kicked in when I actually started having hangovers (something I was spared for much of my 20s, but even then, I was by no means an heroic drinker). My biggest vices are books, magazines, DVDs, and to an extent, CDs, but it sounds like in many countries my English-language options there would be limited.

I beg to differ. I do spend a lot of my money on going out, but there's more to do than drink and dance!!! I go on weekend trips and eat out a lot--I am determined not to set foot in my kitchen ever again ("ever" being for the next two weeks, the duration of my stay here...) since discovering a fat, hairy rat running through my house. So most of my money goes towards food and traveling. It has occurred to me that I could be more frugal, especially given the student loans I've got waiting for me when I get back, but then it occurred to me that with enough scrimping and saving I could leave with, oh, a couple hundred dollars... Which won't go very far back home! Might as well enjoy life over here.

Funny thing, Like a, I always thought that preposition quote was from Winnie Churchill, directed at a secretary who tried to correct his grammar. Either way, I enjoy it.

Hahah nah...stuff like a Hard Gay mask...wrestling toys...little trinkets from convenience stores, stuff from pretty much anywhere I visit.

I love to spend money, what more can I say?
