|

After getting my TEFL in Phuket, I will only have 6-9 months (depending on whether I accept an internship with the State Department) to work in Thailand. From what I can tell, most contracts are for one year. Should I just be honest upfront with schools and request a 6-month contract? Or will that just leave me out to dry? I'm not looking to screw anyone over, but should I just lie about how long I'll be staying in order to wrap up a job quickly? |

Hi Matt
If I were you, I'd ask the people who run the cert course.
These people are on home turf and they should know
where to send you for a short-term contract.
Honesty is the best policy, imho.

Doable (we do it in 4 months blocks or as long as the one job is) but probably won't get a work permit if you're only going to commit to 6 months. |

When I taught in Thailand I had two different jobs and both employed me on a six month contract.
If you are being hired in October insist on a six-month contract. This will take you through to the end of the academic year and ensure you have the best choice of jobs for the following year. |
