Is subletting in Japan illegal? If it's illegal, is it only illegal for certain prefectures or it's illegal throughout Japan? |

It will be in your rental contract. If you have a verbal contract, you'll have to ask the owner/landlord.
Subletting isn't illegal at all, it's just not generally allowed in most rental contracts. If you need someone to live in your place for a few months while you're on holiday or something... even if they pay something, they're not really 'sub-letting'. I'd call it house-sitting.
Anyhow, what is the situation? |
