Hello,
I am currently enjoying my teaching job in Jeddah . In Ramadhan the school hours is 10am to 2pm, so thats quite nice.
I am sorry if my question is off topic but I need someone to kindly recommend me on places to get nice quality sofa sets , curtains, rugs and large wall mirrors at a reasonable/moderate prices? I find IKEA prices within my budget but their products are mainly contemporary in style and I am looking for something more exotic / eastern.
My wife is asking if she should bring soft furnishing over from the UK, which I am not keen on for the hassle involved in shipping. plus...although my apartment is spanking new and lovely inside it doesnt even have a number and it's on an unnamed road!
Til next time!

Try the popular SOUK near Jeddah Mina (Port), I forget the name of the SOUK, you will find wide range of furnitures, from East to the West made, with reasonable prices (depends how good your are in negotiating prices).
There is another SOUK called "SAROUKH" (means missile), also is near Jeddah Mina (Port), near Makkah road, also you will find different things, from electronics, furnitures, antiques, birds, ...... to fishing boats.
I find IKEA prices very expensive compared to the Souks (of course depends on quality and how you bargain).

Shipping from UK to SA will cost you a lot of money, and headaches with the SA Port authorities, especially if your container contains books and Cds, DVDs an sos on, they have to be scanned and thoroughly checked !! SA are are very sensitive to Books, DVs and CDs, especially if they contains films and other articles, and you will spend long time (days) to get your staff. So , I think is not worth wasting your time and money, just buy the furniture from Jeddah, and then you can sell it when you leave SA. |
