Im English too. Blue teeth? I usually take Alex's scathing retorts with a pinch of salt, but maybe freudling HAS been on the sauce a bit too much recently.

Oscar Wilde had green teeth apparently. But then again, he was Irish. Don't think greentooth headsets were available in his day.

Greentooth headsets, blue teeth?

now i'm really confused.

i know it's a standing joke in the states that the british have bad teeth (see austin powers)
but a friend of mine a british girl incidently, before going to america couldn't stand her lovely slightly crooked cheeky smile any longer and splashed out on a set of plastic american type "hamstead heath", big mistake. now she gets ripped off left right and center here in poland and whereever she goes in europe, there's no way i'm getting into a taxi with an american looking person in this country.

i told a friend of mine back in blighty i was hanging out with yanks over here he told me i might as well wear a 'mug me" t-shirt, i wouldn't go that that far, well maybe, but i have noticed how i'm treated differently when i'm with americans and incidently the only hostility i've ever come across in poland is when i've been mistaken for a kurwa americanski by drunken idiots.

i wonder if americans are as aware of how they are "generally" perceived in europe as the british are of their general image in the states?

i am in no way anti american and know that all americans are not over weight, superficial, tourist stereotypes and i only hope and assume this freudling dude (not simon_porter, i stand corrected) isn't under the impression that all brits can be categorised into various caricatures he may have seen in films.

it's interesting that it's the same person who started this thread

peace and love

Sven

Well, being born in London and having lived in London for nearly all of my life I think i'm qualified to say that I've got a fairly good grasp on the 'various caricatures' that may or may not exist in the UK.

I'm a little confused by your post - do you think i'm Polish or American or from somewhere else?

I think he just confused you, simon, with freudling, who posted his "blue teeth" thread just above yours.

"I know, he quite a strange little man isn't he?"

Alex making sense again.

As for teeth, yes, we make fun of your teeth (British). I also think that North Americans have really good teeth, that is, if you live in North America. A few reasons. One, our dentists are excellent. Two, we have loads of flouride in our drinking water. Of course, that helps strengthen our teeth, among other things.

Yes, but why blue? It's not as if we floss with smurfs or anything.
(the mocking of teeth doesn't bother me, as we openly mock everything else about the 'merkins)

Why blue? Why, "hungry as a horse"? Why not, "hungry as a bison"? Right, I don't really know, it is just what people say. But some teeth do look blue.

I didn't like what you said, and...and just look at your big feet.

We're scraping the bottom here.

I'm not willing to rank on the Brits or the Yanks, but the French are always available.

It is an insult. Take it like one. Nothing else to say. Our whole nation makes fun of it, as well as your accents. Make fun of us too. Insult us. If your insults have merit, I will totally agree with you.

You really are a most bizarre little man, I'll have to make sure that I meet you quite soon. Shouldn't be too hard to arrange, should it?

Anyway, as to your two points:
Firstly: there are no finer dentists in Europe or North American (as has been confirmed by the British, USAian, Canadian, and Swiss dentists that I have visited) than Polish dentists. So if you want to argue that your dentists are second best then feel free.
Secondly: in much of the USA there is actually too much fluoride in the water:
Quote:
About 200,000 Americans have drinking water with that much fluoride, which comes from both naturally occurring sources and pollution. A majority of the committee that wrote the report also said that people who consume water containing that much fluoride over a lifetime are likely at increased risk for bone fractures.

http://www.nationalacademies.org/morenews/20060322.html
Quote:

The current maximum level of fluoride allowed in U.S. drinking water is too high, and may cause health problems such as bone fractures and, ironically, erosion of tooth enamel.

I would have found some examples about Canada but it seems that nobody cares...

I think the joke is...

blue blood + bad teeth = blue teeth.

It's not Benny Hill.

But not a bad play on words.
