Howdy Eric,
How far are you from the nearest airport and what qualifications do you have?
Enjoy,

I am in the process of doing the same thing and all you have to do it type what you are looking for in Google and you will get lots of hits. I have sent about 5 schools my resume just today, and I didnt send it to everyone, just the ones that seemed to match what I was looking for..

| Thanks for the links and tips. I have another question though, how long does it take for the visa process finalized? |

Count on 2-3 months after you sign the contract, could be a little less or more than that, too. Depends how desperate they are. |

Eric,
What kind of degree do you have?
What is your nationality and age?
Getting a job in Japan "ASAP" is not the way to do things. Sorry, but this is October, the start of a really dead time for hiring here. Besides, you haven't even told us what sort of teaching job you want (university, conversation school, mainstream school, international school, etc.) or what your qualifications are.
Can you come to Japan and job hunt? It'll cost you about US$4000-5000 to set yourself up for 2 months here, and that's about the length of time needed to land a job on average. If you can't set yourself up, you will have to interview in your home country with the very few employers who go there and recruit.
Do you have a specific area where you'd like to live? What sort of climate don't you tolerate? Japan has it all. Do you want to live in a city or rural area? How long are you willing to work?
Help us to help you. |

Eric, have you looked at the FAQ stickies at the top of this forum? This question comes up once or twice a week and without enough information about you it's not worth answering comprehensively. |

| Go Westgate young man. I took a job there in 2002 and it paid my airfare to Japan from N. America, got me an apartment in central Tokyo, and assured me of 3 months employment. It allowed me to get back to Japan, find some better work, and make some real $$$. Now I make a lot of $$$. WG was the first step. The rest is up to you... There is a ton of work in Tokyo. My goal was to get here with minimal costs involved and then move on up the foodchain. 4 years ago last month I arrived, and like I said, now I have no complaints about jobs or income... |
