I can hoestly say that I have never photocopied anything by Liz and John(maybe the odd page as a supplement)
One of my pet hates is is photocopied course books for either teachers or students. It's not long before the binding is breaking and pages flying across the classroom.
(I do admit to having quite a few photocopied materials books and academic books though. Does anyone not?)

I was at a workshop led by Jane Willis ( Sheıkh was there too-it might even have been him) where she recommended this book and one of the participants said something like "I'll photocopy that from the library" and she turned on him and criticised him and asked him how authors were supposed to make a living.

It turns out that there was wholesale copying of here TBL coursebook series that they ended up making tuppence for every copy sold. She even led workshops where teachers complained about exercises like the red group do... the blue group do... as being confusing because their pirated copies had no colours in them.

I think Publishers only have themselves to blame. EFL books are so expensive. Back in the 90s when I was I ever so TEFFLtastic I bought a load of books. Every visit back to the UK involved me stocking up my own personal library by spending a few hundred quid. However I no longer do.
True I become more cynical the older I get. but also you end up paying 30 quid for a book and end up using a few things out your book. Or it gets knicked. Anyway there is so much on the internet now there is no longer a need to to have a big library.

btw, sorry for hijacking the thread but I only have cable. all I need is football, news and Eastenders. Cable suffices. I've had digiturk in the past but got pissed off with it, losing the signal and having to phone them up for instructions on how to get the signal back.

Back on track. am I forgiven?

I do kind of sort of miss "The Fox News Channel" (Fair and Balanced, yeah right). But, I hasten to add, only because they could usually get my blood boiling. 24 hour coverage of the Laci Peterson murder.. woo ya.. or "The Michael Jackson Trial" was mind numbing. Especially when "Jacko" was found not guilty and the anchorman was shouting "Pervert!!.. Pervert!!" as a helicopter cam followed the limo all the way back to Neverland.

That Memleketin channel is a good idea gone bad. Usually shows some guy with a saz singing- or something very similiar.The whole concept of "The dreaded Talking Heads" must have originated in Turkey.

CNN Turk? Strange how little CNN as an international new gathering organisation actually supervises its "sister" channels. Whenever there is some event in Turkey, you can generally find CNN Turk discussing some football match from last week.

I wonder who actually watches the aquarium channels..I always have a soft spot for the blue fish on the left.. no sorry.. on the right.. no.. on the left. Can't remember his name now but he is really quite a charmer.

When I had Digiturk, we programmed 20 or so channels of the 200 to work, and didn't bother with the rest because they were crap. Now, I kind of miss the films and some of the series reruns, but after a year of Digiturk I'd already seen most of the reruns at least twice anyway.

I really miss the Yeşil�am channel. And Memleketim was good for a giggle.

Baby TV freaks me out.
