Koreans can be very pushy, Seoul isn`t the cleanest place and housing is pretty substandard (I lived in a love hotel for 6 months which was the best place of the 3 places I lived in). Lots of travel everywhere, everything is done opposite to what you are used to. In general, the quality of life is not that good. Far less than Japan, I think. Many employers are out to rip off the foreigner, you start to distrust everyone. It took me about 3 years after to start trusting people again, especially employers. I`m not trying to scare you off, but be on your guard. |

| I agree with some of what Gordon said, but not the part about overall quality of life. Work in a hagwon can be very frustrating, but for the most part Seoul is a good place to live. If you can, try to get your company to put you up in an "officetel." I think that's becoming the standard these days ... a "love hotel" would definitely be unacceptable. |

| I did say I was in Seoul a long time ago, but the love hotel was my idea. I was an "illegal" at the time, but the room was better than the shared apt my previous employer had me live in. |

Well you might want to try a public school. I think they pay what they say most of the time. As long as you are willing to live in the country side, I am sure you can get a public school job. I don't think they even fill all the jobs they intend. |

Korean is one of the easiest languages to learn to read. It is good to know what learning a foreign language is like - if you intend to teach one. Actually, getting around Korea is quite easy - and many signs have English on them. Every high school and college student in Korea will know at least rudimentary English and will be able to give you simple directions

N. Korea has been a problem for over 50 years. Take your cue from the Koreans - they aren't worried about it. |
Kim Jung Il may be more likely to nuke the US than South Korea. |

Are you sure YOU actually even have jobs or is stirring up trouble your main occupation? I can't imagine any school would employ people as immature as you clearly are. I'm trying to get straight information and improve my life, and all you want to do is make trouble and tattle. You're a sad, sad lot.
Yes, I have started threads on other parts of the board because I am trying to decide which country would be best. That's the whole point of this site. I suspect you're just scared I may come to your neck of the woods and take a job away from you.
Again, as for my dog, well excuse the f**k out of me for having the backbone and the compassion to live up to a responsibility and take care of my dog when he's in need. Shoot him, my ass! That dog's excrement is worth more than the two of you put together.

| Well, Manny, if you have the enormous amount of free time that those two do why don't you search through some of the appalling things they've said about me and my dog and see if you don't think I had a right to talk to them like that? I'm just looking for simple information and advice and for some reason, even though they don't know me and I have no effect on their lives in any way, they've taken it upon themselves to hunt down every thread where I've posted and talk trash about me. I feel more than justified in responding. |
