No, you're clearly not. You're trollling: adding bits of new information when it suits you, gradually amending and elaborating on your work history, hopping from country to country, inventing excuses to limit your job hunt, making questions and responses more and more complex and convoluted, and on and on and on.

You don't want advice because, if you did, you wouldn't be on your computer all day responding to the various threads you've created. You'd be taking the advice already provided to you.

Admit it. It must amuse you to be getting so much fodder for your writing. Laughing

As if you have an ounce of qualifications... Trust me. You'll never leave Austin. Wink

I am not changing the details of my life or my work history, I am clarifying. I add information when prompted to. I am not making things up, I merely see no need to give every detail of my life and work history for the past 42 years. That is not lying or being less than honest, that is being succinct and attempting to not bore everyone to death.

hopping from country to country,

I've already explained that there's a lot of countries I'm interested in. I'm trying to figure out which one would be the best for me. I don't know what harm you should see in that.

inventing excuses to limit your job hunt, making questions and responses more and more complex and convoluted, and on and on and on.

So if I have more than one basic, introductory question I should just keep it to myself and not ask it, is that it? What, then, is the point of this site?

You don't want advice because, if you did, you wouldn't be on your computer all day responding to the various threads you've created. You'd be taking the advice already provided to you.

I'm not on this site all day. I've already done two job interviews today and have another tomorrow. If my memory serves the common pattern of advice, even among my detractors was "Get off your ass, get a job, and start making money before you do anything else." I'm doing that. I'm looking for work, even for the crap jobs I really don't want, the physical ones, the ones involving manual labor or skills I don't have, the ones I'm over-qualified for. I'm applying for all these jobs and more in order to make a change. But apparently you people think a change can happen overnight or that a job will start paying before a person has started working there.

Obviously your goal is not to really offer advice, but rather what you consider to be clever insults. You sacrificed any credibility you might have had as a speaker, a teacher, a giver of advice, or even as a human being by some of the monstrous suggestions you made about my dog.

Clearly there is something about me and my past that rubs you the wrong way. I don't know why you should care so much, since we've never met and will likely never meet and since I have no effect on your life in any way. Yet there is something about me that bothers you so much you've been trying to sabotage my efforts to get information and improve myself.

Admit it. It must amuse you to be getting so much fodder for your writing. Laughing

I've yet to figure out why so many of you feel threatened that I'm a writer, or that teaching is not the sole thing I want to do with the rest of my life. Again, I ask, what do my motivations matter so long as I give my students a good value for their money? Are you afraid I'm going to satirize in print all the paranoid, insecure people who have tried to prevent me from going into TEFL?

Some people are trying to make it that. I'm not.

Not sure why you keep choosing to see all of us as "threatened" by you. That's a laugh. We react to your increasingly bizarre posts with scorn, sarcasm, and laughter. That's a far cry from being "threatened."

I guess it makes you feel better about yourself if you think others are "threatened" by your life.

And if you think we're somehow "preventing" you from going into the teaching of English, you're much more disturbed than any of us even suspected.

Cool Cool Cool

You're not preventing me from doing anything, but you are getting in the way by cluttering up threads where I'm trying to get information. Obviously you've got some sort of problem with me to keep sticking your nose in like that. Confused Confused Confused

Ah, I just posted a list of things YOU'VE said, and I don't really expect you to shoot the dog, that's just a bit of dark humour.

No one is threatened and you're not a 'writer'.
Well, you write, but to say you're a 'writer' implies you're a professional. (you earn a living at it or you have the requisite qualifications, neither of which apply to you)

Wrong again. I have worked as a professional writer/editor, made a nice living at it (the best money I've ever made in fact), and worked under and had the ear of a former editor from "The New York Times." And I have done freelance work for money for 21 years. I'm not some kid who read "A Moveable Feast," fell in love with the romantic image of writers, and decided to trot off over the seas to seek my fortune. Far from it.

Seems this is going the way of Mr. Bankston's other thread. Enough is enough.
