Guess our friend fishy is working for one of the newer TBI franchises; good to hear its working out.
I got a lot from working for TBI in a couple of locations ( and some money),
career development can definitly be had in spades, a school that takes teaching seriously.
If I were to recommend one it would be Malang; they have a beautiful campus and a geeeeeezer of a dos ( and he dont just doss).
Good point earlier about those that aint happy in Indo should just leave - i did. still, like Joni said, ' you don't know what you got 'til it's gone'. I'm flying to Bangkok on thursday, maybe see ya round christmas time ( think I'll give Ramadandamydangalonglinglong a miss). |

Ya, true I love it here too. Where I am there is a set of problems that can only be found in a city with oil and mining workers, social problems beyond belief, limited power, bad water, and all the other things that are well known throughout Indonesia. But I am still here enjoying life. |

happy me, i must say i am a little confused. you claimed before to be an editor in singapore. on the singapore forum you have represented the singapore ministry of education in a seemingly "official" manner. yet you still periodically claim indonesian residency. my question is, why does an editor for the singapore ministry of education live ( and sometimes seems to work) in indonesia? does their government really have to look abroad for editors? what is your real job and relative location? |

I taught in Bandung, Surabaya and Jakarta during the 80's. Back then we taught 12 hours a week, no office hours and earned a thousand dollars a month! Spent most of our time dining with students, golfing and touring Indonesia.
Things have changed a lot since then.
My favorite city was Bandung, me and three other teachers help to found the EEP school, with fewer than 100 students and now its in the thousands, can't say if thats good or bad.
Surabaya was the cleanest of the three.
Jakarta can be nice if you find a niche that suits you.
Selamat Tingal! |
