Hi there
Can anyone tell me if there is a fianc visa type thing in Poland like in the UK?
Can a non European national live and work on his girlfriends passport? What I mean by this is, in the UK if u have a work permit ur partner will also be granted one.
If you have British national for a fianc they to can apply for there partners to get a visa if not from European union.
Does Poland have the same sex marriage policy and etc?
All help would be appreciated
thanks |

Pretty much none of that is true. If you have a work permit in the UK or not makes bugger all difference to your partner's ability to get a work permit. It is illegal to work in the UK on a fiance visa.

Yes Poland most certainly does have a same-sex marriage policy. The policy is that it is wrong and only "perverts" (to quote our President) support same-sex marriage. To quote another government minister: "All homosexuals are cowards. The police should beat them with batons."

Alex maybe u dont know this but its legal to work on ur fiancs work permit in the UK. If you can prove to the authorities that you have been together for longer than two years the visa is granted to you and you have the same status as you partner.
My question early was if there is something similar in Poland
Alex there is also no need for you to be homophobic. Im not gay I was just enquiring about the laws in Poland w.r.t. visas |

Thanks for that insight on the UK Peaches.
I may end up there with my lady myself someday.
What Alex is saying is that the right to have a "same sex marriage," or a gay and lesbian marriage, in Poland is far from being realized.
Coming from California, that was one thing that really annoyed me.
In Poland gays are seen as perverted sex freaks to the point where people throw rocks at gay pride parades and the government shuts them down.
Don't get me wrong I like Poland. But backwards thinking is backwards thinking.
Also it's not just gays. A few years ago the police used to beat gypsies to keep them out of Poland, yet I hear that is changing. |

You say that but HM government disagrees with you:
Quote: |
You will be allowed to stay in the UK for six months but without permission to work. When you are married or have registered a civil partnership, you can apply for a two-year extension to your visa and, if your application is granted, you will be allowed to work. |
Check http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/ for INF 4. Sorry but the link is too long to post here.

No. The requirements are more than that. A person must prove that:
Quote: |
any previous marriage, civil partnership or similar relationship, has permanently broken down
you have been living together in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for two years or more
you have suitable accommodation which is owned or lived in only by you and your household, and where you and your dependants can live without any help from public funds
you can support yourselves and any dependants without any help from public funds
you intend to live together permanently |
(Same form as before)
But these rules only apply to the partner of a person who is settled in the UK. Settled means that the person can live in the UK legally, with no time limit on their stay. Work permits do have time limits. So, if your partner has a work permit, he/she is not settled. Even if you can prove that you meet the criteria for unmarried partner status, you still wont get a work permit.

And it was answered earlier. You dont like the answer. Sorry.

Dont make me out to be homophobic. Read my post. See what comments I make about same-sex marriage. You will see that I make no comment at all. Or at least you would see it if you could read properly. However, as you are capable neither of reading my post nor of reading fairly simple advice leaflets, its a fairly safe bet that you can not read properly. |

Peaches, calm down you bleeding snapper! Mr. Shulgin was in no way being homophobic and neither did he seem (to me anyway) to be patronising you in anyway, which you seemed to think he was judging by your answer.
As to the Polish government being homophic...well, its totally true. And if your fianc is of the same sex youll find out soon enough. Its a shame but Poland is led by a bunch of homophobes and it is reflected in society itself to some extent. |

Be fair, it's not just Polish politicians who are homophobic. The attitudes in the country have their roots in the strong Catholicism among most (is this true, percentage-wise? a lot, at least) Poles.
It's simply that the Polish government doesn't act independently from the religious beliefs of its people, I think. |
