I don't deny any of that. There have been sites I have gotten onto as a troll. This is not one of them, though. But I am amazed that Henry would feel the neurotic need to research me. But if he did that much work I'm sure he learned I am indeed a writer.

Henry also didn't bother to read further down:

I've been doing a lot of research into TEFL programs (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and am seriously thinking of going abroad and doing that in the post-Fred era. My mom hates the idea, asking how will I come up with the up-front money needed. But some programs in Asia and possibly other areas pay your airfare and housing. And my buddy Seth encourages me to come teach English in Paris.

I've been spending a lot of time on a TEFL message board. Some of the posters are helpful and others are downright nasty. One accused me of being a troll, because he said my questions on the newbie board were so ridiculous. Some encourage me to go to Japan, while others hype Korea or China. My friend Cosme actually taught in Japan for two yearseven met his wife there. But I've been unable to get ahold of him to ask him questions.

As for Paris, well, some people say it's almost impossible for someone with a non-EU passport to get a job legally in Paris. Some say it's possible, but hard. Others that it's easy, but that you would have trouble making ends meet. Still others say it's smooth sailing.

Whatever the truth is, I think it would make a good change of pace, it would be an adventure and a change from the soul-crushing boredom of the life I've been living, and it would definitely give me material to write about. I mean, if one week in Paris gave me enough for a 271-page book, think what a few years (or more) in a foreign country would do.

In some countries the living expenses are so low I'd be able to save a great deal, whereas in others I'd maybe make my living and that would be about it. Still, it would be better than sticking around suburban Texas, doing more dead-end jobs in retail, data
entry, and the like.

You will not deter me, pipsqueak. I have legitimate questions and I intend to get legitimate answers for them, regardless of what you sad, bored types do.

If Henry had bothered to read other posts on my site he would've found proof that everything I say and ask is on the level.

Just because I troll on other sites doesn't mean I troll on all of them. Anyway, I never really followed the troll charge on this site anyway. I figured people were more upset that I'd screwed up my life and was living off my mom at an advanced age or that I was unemployed or dedicated to my writing or something. The charge of trolldom always struck me as a superficial side-issue, or rather, non-issue.

Anyway, I plod forward....You children do whatever you want to.

js, regardless of your status as troll or legitimate newbie, this thread no longer has nothing to do with teaching in the Czech Republic. A page or so back, you agreed with Chris' advice about starting elsewhere. It was good advice.

Close this thread, ok? Dragging it on now would be trolling.

Bonne chance in Korea, or wherever.

Unfortunately, I read entirely too much of the troll's blog. It was indeed pitiful. And the writing on exhibit was not exactly the type that publishers and their agents are eager to snap up. He's not a "writer." He's simply a whiner. Cool

I thank a forum participant for the link to the bankston site. Much appreciated!

Henry, you too! The thread's been entirely hijacked, and it's time to close it. You don't need to have the last word, right? Js, whatever his other attributes, has at least had the cool not to continue dragging this one out today. It'll increase his credibility at least a bit if he closes for now. Don't taunt him - it's not fair.

Agreed. I shall no longer taunt the troll into making yet another useless post.
