Is there anyone out there who may be able to shed some light on who is responsible for cancelling a work Visa? the employer or the employee? I've been told that one can get banned from working in all GCC countries if the Visa is not cancelled and the labour card not handed in...Does anyone know if this is indeed true?
I know that there used to be a 2 year ban on expats who left the country after they completed their contract and that this has now changed...Can an employer still request a ban for employees?
Also, does anyone happen to know exactly how much it costs (medical and visa process) to get an expat a working Visa in Oman?
Thanks |

Since in education the employer normally pays for the work visa, I would have no idea as I never paid. It is the employer who has the responsibility to cancel it.
The reality is that the other countries neither know nor care that you have an active work visa from another Gulf country in your passport. It could affect you if you tried to apply for another job in the same country, but with the laws changing quickly, I don't know what happens now...

As far as the GCC countries did not sign a convention on work regulations, especially for foreigners, you will be able to work in another GCC counrty, except the one n wich you did not cancel your work visa (specially SA). The other solution is to have a new passport and you will be clean to work at any GCC country. Check the web site of some ofhte GCC ministry of labour, etc. |
