Now I may well be shooting myself in the foot here but having secured myself a job (hoorah), i'm just floating around seeing if there's anything better going on.

So far, from my wonderings on the baking hot streets of Cracow this morning:

gama bell - no hope, they recruited in May!!!
Lincoln - still some spaces
York - all full
Lingualand - will be reviewing cv's next week

Any others that I go round today (and i'm staying fairly central) I'll chuck on here.

Please note however, I'm only doing this to help out, I'm not the authority of jobs/availability/etc so please don't respond with can I work here/there etc

and a few more

empik (rynek glowny) - headteacher is away, so they'll review the cv's when he/she is back. Got the impression that it'll be day to day affair(?).
maly rynek - will be looking to recruit in the next few weeks
archer/other school in the same premises (ul. sw. tomasza) - the archer school is a callen school, i'm assuming the other one (starts with S, four letters long) is as well, so I didn't go in there.
theres a polish outfit in pl. szczepanski. When the DOS gets back on the 28th he/she will look at cv's. Here you have to fill out an application form. Also handy if you can speak Polish 'cos the Polish girl on cover doesn't speak that much English.

All the above (and I daresay others) will take CV's, so make sure you've got one to hand and a Polish number.

8 down, 80 odd to go.

An update:

Lots of schools are still accepting walk in CV's as the schools that have not got themselves organised panic into getting native speakers that they've promised their students. Poliglota for one is crying out for teachers.

Schools definately not on the lookout:
Bell
Profi (I think)

In short, if you're looking for work, don't give up yet - carry on handing out CV's and for the love of God dress up as if you were going for an interview in your home country. The amount of prospective teachers handing in CV's whilst wearing jeans and a T-shirt Some people have no idea.

Thanks for that Simon, what sort of saleries would you be likely to command from these outfits? Ive been looking at gumtree and it seems you can get a flatshare for 500 zl which is very tempting.

I'll 'fess up - i've no idea about flatshares and other extras and perks other schools may/may not be offering. I'm a first year newbie myself to I'm just posting any news I come across as info.

Poliglota were paying 70zl for 90 min (or at least thats what they offered me).
York pay 30p/h
Empik offered 32 - 40 p/h
(please note p/h may mean either 60min or 45min depending on how the school operates)

Other schools I'm afraid I've no idea.

The flatshare is that a room in a flat for 500zl or a flatshare plus 500 as your salary. Cos if its the second option its crap. If is the first you'll read lots of pros and cons about a school setting up your accommodation here on this forum via the search option. I've no experience on schools organising accomm so I'll keep quiet on this front.

Simon, do you have an inkling if any of these schools would sponsor a yank for a visa? I take it you are an EU citizen, right?

Hi Master Shake,

I'm afraid I've no idea on the sponsoring for a visa front, i am an EU citizen so didn't have to go through that malarky. There's plenty of info about sponsoring on this board though - have a gander through the search function.

If there's nothing there start a thread about how to get sponsorship and i'm sure someone will help you out.

Please also be advised that the thread was started in August, please don't take it as an up to date 'latest job news' thread because it is out of date.

I suspect there might be a few jobs still going around but in all honesty they'll be with schools you'll want to avoid. I haven't heard anything through the grapevine regarding jobs for a long while.
