	  | Wow Tim, beer on the beach has to be before 11:00 a.m. ?? That's pretty early, even for Canadians on vacation! |

				| There's a legal hour at which to start selling alcohol in Mexico? I wonder how that works when some bars don't even close until close to 9 AM... | |

				| Tim, that was a blonde moment! Our fishermen DO drink beer on the beach well before 11 am here. They have been up for hours by then so it's like a beer with the boys after a hard day's work. I had never heard of any law like that being enforced here, flashback to Semana Santa camping. The legal hour for the grocery stores to start selling liquor here is 9 a.m. | |

				| Sorry, Samantha. I sort of figured it out halfway across town this morning on my way to pick up alimento for my backyard pollos and palomas. I'm not the quickest and the brightest, but I'm even slower and stoopider early in the morning before having my second cup of beer . . . err . . . coffee.
I guess not thinking that there would be something strange about drinking beer before 11:00 a.m. just shows how acclimated to the culture I've become. Drinking beer, just like drinking Coca Cola, isn't particularly restricted to starting and ending times on the clock. For many Yucatecos beer, just like Coca Cola, would go just fine with a torta de cochinita for breakfast if it happened to be in the fridge. If Yucatecos are going to party, it can start at any time of the day or night and continue on until any time of the day or night . . . if the mood is right and the beer is flowing, from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning wouldn't be unusual.

Guy, if I'm not mistaken, beer and liquor sales are controlled by the individual states, just like in the USA. In Yucatan, agencias (beer stores,) supermarkets, and other places where beer can be purchased have set times when they can legally sell beer. Clandestinos, which are illegal, are agencias and/or places to drink that sell/serve beer during times other than legal hours. Restaurants and bars need state licenses to sell beer and/or liquor, and there are different types of licenses. The family bars can only serve between the hours of 11:OO a.m. and 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. Late-night bars and clubs can only sell between 8:00 p.m. and something like 3:00 or 4:00 a.m., unless they have both kinds of licenses.

				| How would you compare gay life in DF to Guadalajara?
Why was this topic hijacked to be about drinking? Is that all you people ever talk about? What is wrong you people?
