|
|
Hi again,
Yes. Anyone.....do you have your picks? Good, budget to mid-range accomodation in bangkok? Doesn't matter about air-con or fan (maybe?)...but private bathroom is nice, probably.
Also, if you sort of go to a place and say that you'll stay for a month or two or three, what sort of dicount can you possibly expect on the usual daily rate?
Anyone know of a place where they give you a good discount if you can commit to staying for a month or two, kind of thing?
Thanks if you have any ideas. |

I am also looking for a few places and i think if you look at the serviced apartments in bangkok for around 5,000- 10, 000/a month you would be able to find something you like. i had a good friend that have been living in bangkok 15 years of her life and just returned a week ago and she stay at a 5000 (about $130 USD) flat and said it was pretty good to thai standard. but it's very simple and more like a small hotel room. this is if you are on a budget. But it also depends on where you want to live as i found that some places are more expensive than others...good luck and let me know if you find something nice, i might just stay at the same place once i get there. |

I stayed in nasa vegas hotel for 3 months. Was in one of those serviced apartments. The cheapest deal was 4 thousand baht for a single room. The room is tiny by any account, with very tiny window. If you wish to have a fridge, you have to pay one thousand baht per month more, if you wish to have a TV, you have to pay one thousand baht per month more, if you wish to have bedsheets, you have pay one thousand baht per month more. Thus, including these 3 extras, it will come to about 7 thousand baht. then you have the service charges, electricity, etc. These easily surpass 2000 baht, being a serviced apartment, electrical/water charge is more expensive than other places. There is a fitness room but you are given a free access for only 10 days, well, 10 coupons which you have to use up within the first month.
I currently live in another place, in chinatown (downtown bangkok), I pay 7 thousand baht for a place that's 3 times bigger than nasa vegas hotel one. Also I have to pay 3 thousand baht for utilities (electrical/water bill). Even in this case I am being ripped off, hence I'll be switching to another place.
Nasa Vegas is a good place if you don't know anything better... but it does come with a 3 month contract, or if not, comes at a very hefty price (hence it may be better off just getting the 590 Baht room). The rooms are a bit too small. The windows are tiny, you will always have lights turned on. Rooms do have bathrooms with bath tubs, so that's cool.
Serviced apartments, in general seem to charge a bit too much for things such as fridge/tv/bedsheets, so you may be better off buying these things on your own. I bought a TV, fridge and bedsheets, 4 thousand baht each (new). To make things cheaper, you may be better off investing money into these things, rather than giving one thousand baht for each every month for used, bad quality TV sets, fridges, etc. I dunno... I just felt ripped off by staying in such a tiny apartment and having to pay such a high price. In comparison though... First night in BKK, I spent in a hotel room and paid 2000 baht for one night, hence nasa vegas hotel seemed like heaven.
BTW, when you come to BKK, don't get those airport taxis, which go for 700 baht (or perhaps more at the new airport?) to any location in bkk. Get a taxi on your own. Again, chances are you will be ripped off, and I know how cumbersome it can be trying to find a taxi with 4 luggage cases.
Anyway, enjoy your trip, I do think it will be interesting.... |

Oh, btw, it was 4 thousand baht per month per room (serviced apartment)
A normal hotel room for 590 might be a bit bigger, who knows? Again, I would recommend you get that one, so that you'd be able to switch to another place easier. (4 thousand baht pe month apartment is available only via a contract where you have to pay a 3 month deposit. ) |
