I've been reading that the new system of exchanging money went into effect, and that now the exchange rate varies from place to place. Those of you in Costa Rica - has this caused difficulties for you yet? Do you find you have to shop around get get the best rate, or is the rate fairly similar no matter where you go? Or do you get paid on colones, and thus it doesn't affect you? |

I dont know many of the details on the newest exchange rate change, I just know that its up to over 530colones to the dollar (so if you are earning dollars right now, great cause they'll go further down here).
This hasn't really affected me much though because I tend to get a lot of cash out of the atm at a time to minimize the ATM fees. I was being charged $5 (!!!) everytime i took money out, so that's how I do that. Thankfully I get paid in cash, so I don't have to worry about going to the atm often.
Anyway, I know that doesn't exactly answer your question, but I hope it helps.
