this ain't my normal MO, but i'm stuck in hong kong on a visa run and have no place to go. flew into shenzhen from chengdu at the last minute, arrived on kowloon island at about 10 last night, only to find out that not only are all the guesthouses completely full through the whole weekend due to the electronics convention, but that the chinese embassy no longer operates on saturday mornings as it did until this summer, apparently. so i'm stuck here through monday with nowhere to go, and if somebody could help me out by way of a couch and shower i'd be eternally grateful and will do your dishes, mop your floor, or something. or if you could provide some advice that would be helpful as well. thanks thanks thanks.

Consider a hop over to Macau.
Book a hotel through the booking agents at the fery terminal.
Hotels form about 400 HK |

Ha, voodikon the PC copperess stranded on "Kowloon Island" in search of the CHINESE EMBASSY.
Where the heck are you, Voodikon? Surely not in HONG KONG! There is no "Kowloon island" and no Chinese "embassy"! |

Seems she has arrived in Hong Kong but got her geography stuck in her knickers. How about staying at the Youth Hostel on Mt Davis, Victoria Road, HK Island? Costs around HK 95 a night in a dorm or 240 a night in a double. Free use of kitchen, TV room, showers. Free shuttle bus to Sheungwan. The CHinese Visa Office is a 15 minute tramride from there in WANCHAI. The tram costs 2 HK kuais a ride. Just don't take a Happy Valley-bound tram! |
