That's a cold part of the country. Beautiful but cold. Also fairly rural and a bit isolated..the nearest football team is Inverness Calley. I guess that's why it is cheaper. When i wrote house prices in Scotland what I meant was the cities. I think Edinburgh is the second most expensive area in the UK, after the South East. |

My mother sent me a photo of my aunt and uncle standing outside their house which has a beautiful view but I could feel the cold from the photo. But they like walking and my aunt has got a part time job with the council.
House prices in UK-so absurd. |

What is the posh part of Glasgow called? |
The posh part of Milngavie is not called Milngavie. Its is called Bearsden where I am unfortunately from. House prices there have risen steeply over the past year. Average house price in Bearsden is up 45% over the past 12 months to 230,000 sterling.
You can by for less in the East coast areas but you will have to tolerate the east coast accent and bawbag football teams.
Just joking....Edinburgh City still leads the way in the property stakes with the average house there costing 160,000 compared to Glasgow City at 110,000. Expect to pay around 2 million for a top quality gaff in the New Town of Edinburgh (where does David Murray live?).
I'll take 2 please.[/quote] |

Was it Churchill that said there are lies , damned lies and statistics? 160 K wouldn't buy you a garden shed in Edinburgh new town. If you include areas such as Pilton, Craigmillar, etc of course the average house price is lowered. What's the average price in Istanbul? The same money would buy you a place in Etiler and Tarlibasi? I think not. |

Drumchapel. Located quite close to Bearsden so handy for the odd burglary or two. |

I'd go with the Borders. My mother has a house in Duns. 90 minutes north there is Edinburgh and about an hour south is Newcastle. Very beautiful part of the country and probably one of the cheapest. Thinking of buying in the UK Thrifty? |

Jedburgh is gorgeous. I love it there. I would have though it would be quite pricey there though. |
