Hello everybody,

I would appreciate it if anybody can recommend or suggest a reputable school in the north of Italy please? Narrowing it down, albeit not by a lot, I was thinking about Bergamo and/or the Lakes area. Ideally, I'd like to locate to a relatively small town or city with easy access to the countryside, hills/mountains.

I would prefer to live alone - I won't necessarily be relying only on an EFL teacher's income - and I'd also like to know the cost of renting appartments in the said area. For example, how much would it cost per month for one person to rent a small appartment in Bergamo? If you could also direct me to an online or magazine resource for affiti in the area that would be great.

If it helps with your answers, I'm English with a CELTA and a year's teaching experience at a school near Florence plus summer school work in England. If you can help with my questions that would be great.

Best wishes,

Alex

Avoid Anderson House in Bergamo (reasons on another thread). Rent for me just inside Bergano was almost 400 Euros per month sharing an apartment, but many people thought I was paying too much.

I know that the British Schools of English group www.britishschool.com have a school in Bergamo. Although I cannot speak for this school in particular, the group has a good reputation. I worked at one of the British Schools in the north for many years and was very happy there.

You could try Alpha Beta in Bolzano. They seem like a good school but I don't think they like older people working for them as Englsih Teahers. They have an ad in TEFL.com now

Rent in Bergamo for a bilocale seems to be around 550 - 600 per month but you can easily find shared accomodation.

Wall Street Institute, Bergamo are currently looking for another teacher. Ad posted on tefl.com

wage is pretty standard for the area - but you can find plenty of private students to supplement this.
