Can anyone help?
I'm about to apply to Nova. I have the interview next week. ON the application form it requires email addresses for my referees. Unfortunately both of my previous employers are in the UK public sector and have internal email systems. It is not possible to email them from an external PC.
How do I get round this? My CV has the addresses and 'phone numbers. Will this be enough?
I'd hate to think that I could be rejected just for something as trivial as that. |

Surely, your refs have their own personal e-mail providers?? Hotmail, Yahoo? If this is no good, how about you provide the phone numbers and snail mail addresses of said refs, and as a gesture of sincerity and genkiness, apologize for the inconvenience and offer to pay NOVA for the long distance phone call costs.
Otherwise, if your credentials are in order, I can't see the lack of a ref e-mail (no fault of your own) being a deciding factor. But then, I'm not NOVA.
Good luck. |

yeah a phone number and address should be enough.I didn't leave an e-mail and it was fine. They just contacted the references by phone instead. |

I gave them email addresses for my referees but they still phoned them anyway. It shouldn't be a problem. |

Contact your references and ask for a different email address. An internal email address is pretty much useless. |

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Just to clarify, I am a civil servant and there is so much red tape and regulations that you have to go through to get anything done. My own supervisor does not have the authority to give a reference and is unwilling to bend the rules and provide their personal email address. A total jobsworth in other words. Officially all refs must go to the local HR manager, whom I don't know personally. The entire department is an absolute nightmare to work for and I really can't wait to get out.
If EC and Mavis got on without emails I should be okay. |
