I know I had a bad experience with one EF franchise (now happily in the past) but I've spoken to other EF teachers in Jakarta and it appears there are some better run offices out here after all.

I have a friend who wants to teach here for a year. She will be coming over Christmas - could some of you EF teachers on Dave's that have been here a while PM me with some names of the better organised/run franchises?

I don't want to start a mud slinging session by asking you to post them for all to see as no doubt there are a few folk that would start whining..

Your help, as always, is well appreciated.

People at Kelapa Gading have, on the whole, been happy in recent years with their set up. I know of a number of staff that extended their contracts when I was around there. Cempaka Mas and Sunter is fine as well. But the Kelapa Gading environment is nicer to live in.

Engish First at Kebun Jeruk were well-run: the staff are helpful and they have a good selection of material. A small apartment is normally supplied and a maid who cleans and washes and irons twice a week.

My only criticism was that the class rooms were a bit cramped, and activities were impossible to run other than on-the-table type.

I believe that they've since moved, so maybe the new place has bigger rooms.

A big plus is that the school owners are at the school every day, so teachers can speak to them directly.

The students are/were mostly Chinese, and very keen to learn.
