I've just seen a position in Barcelona for teaching business english. Has anyone had any experience teaching in-company in barcelona or any experience with Linguarama? Are Linguarama that bad???

I have taught in companies in Barcelona and it was fine except for the travelling between classes. Most company classes are early in the morning for an hour/hour and a half, lunchtime, or late afternoon. So you end up with lots of gaps in your timetable and lots of time on the metro. The metro is fairly fast and efficient though, and it's not expensive.
I've never worked for Linguarama but know a couple of people who do and they seem happy enough.
You should know however that life is not as cheap as it used to be - in particular renting a flat. On a tefl salary you'll just about get by.

yeah i also teach some business in and around Barcelona. Any company i have taught at have been really nice & really keen to learn but as already pointed out you do seem to spend most of your day travelling around on the trains & metro.

Not sure about Linguarama but i know my friend worked for Langage here which is purely business & really liked it. If you are wary about them there are plenty of other schools that teach only business if that is what you are looking for

No, they aren't THAT bad to work for in that the classrooms are comfortable, well lit and have good heating/air conditioning etc. The material is good and that you don't have to deal with obnoxious teenagers, however, despite these pros, they have a very high turnover of staff, no doubt as a result of the very low salaries they pay - at least that is my reason for leaving. A standard 60 hour monthly contract pays about 750 a month GROSS, yes, that is gross. With luck, a newcomer to Barcelona might be able to find a room in a shared flat for around 350 - 400 a month. Some academies in the outer regions of Barcelona province e.g. Manresa (about 60 km) are offering teachers 18 - 24 Nett per hour.

Some ex Linguarma teachers are making more money working in bars and the working day is shorter.

So if you want a pleasant , relatively stress free environment, and are happy to exist on subsistence wages, then Lingurama is the company for you.
