Flying there next week
Looking for a casa particulare to stay for 5 or so nights, will arrive late at the airport so would love to have one by name so we dont ahve to get conned by a taxi driver and look all over town for one, also heard you have to have an address upon arrival at the airport
Anyone been there recently or know of a place, please state price if you know it, lookinf for around 20-25dollars per rooom

There are a couple of threads about Cuba where you might get this info. You can either go to a government desginated place to get a homestay or find clandestine areas after you arrive. I think you can probably get something cheaper than 20-25 per night. |

Do not take US dollars with you, as they are subject to tax upon exchange. Take Euros.
Give the name of a hotel to the immigration official. Take your pick. You can buy a tourist card on arrival, but I don't recommend it as you will find yourself at the back of the queue for immigration and it's a painfully slow process at the best of times.
You may indeed find a casa particular for less than $20-25, but it's more than likely it'll be unofficial. People who take you to these places invariably charge the householder a commission, not the client. Try the Lonely Planet guide. |
