Dear manonatrain,
" if i was in SA for 10 years i would be very wealthy. havent you saved ENUFF ???? "
Not sure if this post was directed towards me ( and/or scot47 ) since I was in the kingdom for 19 years rather than 10. " ENUFF ", ah - now there's an elusive concept. Just how much IS " enuff "? I suspect there may be no such animal. Moreover, financial acumen is not exactly my strong point. But then, perhaps I have good company in this respect:
Matt 6:25-33
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you--you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. "
Regards,
John |

I assume that you are unmarried and have no dependants.
When one has children, one has obligations. I can't just throw it all away and go and do voluntary work with minority children in some ghetto.
I need MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Dear manonatrain,
" Unless you are all gay men or married....how could you stand it? "
Well, I was married over there - and unmarried. How could I stand it?
1. Liked my job a lot; 2. love to read; 3. am not dependent on outside diversions for enjoyment ( back here in the States, I seldom watch TV or go to " social events " ); 4. am good with deferred gratification; 5. found watching a culture try to propel itself from its traditional past into the present rather fascinating; 6. had good friends among my colleagues.
Guess that about tells the tale.

John |

"Deferred gratification" or BSB syndrome (Bachelor Status Back-up) does not cause permanent brain damage.
Being straight and unmarried doesn't necessarily mean one will have a sexless life in KSA, unless your definitiion of sex always includes another person.

"deferred gratification" does that mean postponing your pleasures until you are too old to do anything ? |

Dear Albulbul,
Well, that depends on the deferrer - and the kind of gratification. Some become " old " so young that they can't " do anything " at a very tender age. Others ( Charlie Chaplin comes to mind ) can " do it " well into their " sunset years ".

An old bull and a young bull are talking in one field about the cows in the field next door. Young Bull says "Why don't we run over there, jump over the fence and get to know a few of them cows?"
Old Bull replies, "Nay lad. Lets walk down, go through the gate and get to know them all!"

Not to offend. But if I didnt have someone I couldnt take it.
I NEED the nasty with another. And the teachers just never
do it for me...although some have offered...say no more.
Children...oh...they come with saying I DO...and I havent yet. |
