Hope this doesn't stir anything up here at Dave's, but people want to know, and this can probably be tacked onto the Petterson topic if one of the bosses can do that...

Turns out his name wasn't even Charlie Peterson, it was John Addis, a man wanted for murder. According to the article linked to below, he was from Las Vegas (Originally from Alaska, I should add). I did a little more digging, and he had apparently had a brush with the law, and been a lawman himself, for a time.

You'll need to be able to read Spanish, or at least plug this into a translator...

Here's the article on John Addis from America's Most wanted:

Howdy Mr. K. Ain't seen you around these parts since...since I don't remember when.

I think the case is wrapped up anyway. The whole point of the other thread was to help find a missing man. No justice has been served but it makes you wonder about who's who in Mexico.

Dang, the modern-day retelling of a story right out of the wild west: "Ya best hit the Badlands and keep yer hide movin' 'til yer South of the Boarder, Pardner. Otherwise the Law or, worse, your conscience is like to catch ya 'n end yer evil ways."

This is a better link from the same profile. It describes the capture.

Dang those Americans pretending to be Canadians. Smile

So sad about the wife and especially the kids. It wasn't their fault. Makes you wonder, like Guy said, how many people have escaped to Mexico to start a new life. Many joke about it, but it appears some actually do it. Seeing as though you can get any kind of document in Tepito, it doesn't seem to be that hard.

Very sad story indeed. But yes, they are amongst us. At least twice a year one of AMW gets lifted out of our area. With the internet, Mexico just isn't that far away anymore and fugitives and criminals from this continent should really be thinking South America instead of Mexico because the law has changed. Cases in point - the recent Perry March and father Arthur March cases out of Ajijic, near Guadalajara; though they were not in hiding, quite the opposite.

I watch the "wanted" websites regularly since a little reward would nicely supplement my meagre income! So far no luck someone always beats me to it!.... Cool It is much easier to spot a AMW in a non-tourist area so those off the beaten tracks please keep your eyes peeled. It would have been ideal if this recent fellow had been recognised in Chiapas and collared ages ago making for a much better ending to this tragic story. I imagine he would still have looked similar to his wanted pictures even as a fake Canadian!

I have SKY satellite T.V., but I have never seen America's Most Wanted on any of the channels. It airs on FOX in the U.S. and Canada. Our version of FOX doesn't appear to air it.

I think this would be an excellent idea and to have the option to see it in Spanish. That would probably have saved that woman and children's lives in Chiapas, since John Addis has been on the program several times.
