Hi,I am totally new here, this is in fact my post numero uno. Just thinking of moving to asia in maybe a year or so( earlier if I can) and wondering if I can get realistic assessment. I have a B.Ed (hons) with no form of tefl cert but I have 12 years teaching experience, nine of which in ESL in sweden. I have of course been thinking about Korea but have woulod much rather be in SEA. (I love Cambodia but Vietnam is probably the most realistic option) I need to be able to send home 600 dollars a month, is it possible in Vietnam?????

btw, Irealise you all mean Thailand when you write LOS, but what does LOS stand for??

Andy

LOS = Land of Smiles

Sending home $600 per month from SE Asia will be a challenge.

I'll let the Vietnam vets handle that particular question,

but you should probably forget Thailand for now.

PS: If you look at the top right-hand corner of your post

you'll see the word edit. If you click on that, you can

go back to your original post and make changes.

Thanks, "land of smiles!" should have been able to work that out. I have actually already ruled out Thailalnd because of the low wages and am more focused towards maybe being able to earn about 1500 or 1600 dollars a month. We will see as you say what the veterans from Viet say, thanks again.

I could do it from Malaysia. I don't want to, but I could. Malaysia is so underrated that it doesn't even have its own forum.

Hey,

I think 600$ is quite doable in Vietnam. Naturally it depends on what you make and spend..but on average you should be making 1300-1700 a month and you can easily live on $500...these are roughly the figures I live by right now. Remember sending money out of Nam is a pain in the ass and you should research the best way for you to do this, depending on your situation.
