I'll be there 007. Not by choice I can assure you. You'll have little trouble spotting me but how will I know who you are? Any clues? |

Oh, difficult question! May be you are right, I might have little trouble spotting you, especially if you are going to attend the workshop of the English teaching by Dr Master, but the problem with me, is that you will find at least 99 persons who look like me! So I think it will be difficult for you to spot me, but may be I will give you a hint for that later on.
BTW, if you are really coming, it will be appreciated if could bring with you Scot47, Dmp, and Dr Bebsi, because I love to meet them in the conference, and see their faces. |

I do not attend 'scientific' conferences on TEFLology or 'Applied Linguistics'. Nor do I take part in black masses, football games or group therapy sessions. Or Tiddleywinks or meetings of the Glasgow Rangers Football Club Supporters' Association.

So are there women only events? I guess they don't get advertised... because too many men would turn up. |

All the time. Women's colleges, for example, frequently have 'seminars' and the like which of course are open only to women. Also, many other 'events' (granted Riyadh is hardly the cultural capital of the world, or even of KSA) often have seperate days for male and female visitors.

They do get advertised - the question of men turning up wouldn't be an issue. For a man to enter a female only event would be akin to a man walking into a woman's dressing room anywhere else in the world - only much more outrageous and much more difficult. But having lived in Qatar, you are surely familiar with taboos in conservative Gulf socieites, no? |

Of course I am. As usual I was just being silly. A group of women meeting Is it going to attract the native 19 year old youths or the middle-aged/elderly expats? |

Peter Master is quite literally the "master" of teaching the use of articles in English. He's devoted a significant part of his career to this topic. How amazing is that?? He's based here in northern California.

As I've said, neither. Such gatherings are routine and entirely unremarkable. Though you do get bored young men hanging around girls' schools in the hope of catching a snatched glimpse of a young lady's face... |

According to conference program, there will be a Hall reserved for women who attend the conference, and the lecture will be transmitted live using closed TV circuits. The female speakers will also use the TV circuits to present their lectures without being seen by the male audience. |
