NO. You're better off just packing a really big rock.

I'm planning on moving to CZ next spring to do a 3-month CELTA course, travel Europe over the summer and then return to CZ to teach. I'm trying to figure out what I'll need to pack.

At first, I thought that I'd buy a laptop...but then decided that'd be money better spent on travelling. I do already have a desktop here in Canada. I figure that, if anything, I'd just get a flash drive. All set, right?

I was pretty confident with my decision until someone had suggested that I bring the desktop, put it in storage with my winter stuff while I travel over the summer, and then pick it up when I'm settled in. Initially I scoffed at this...but the more I mull it over, it seems like a pretty good idea. Any opinions?

Your question begs another...

Is your poll just for the location you specified? Answers will vary considerably if other locations are considered.

I would have to say just for CZ/Eastern Europe. Good point though...I'm considering it b/c of the high cost of electronics in that area.

What would you need it for that a flash drive and an internet cafe couldn't provide?

A laptop would be a good idea (still a pain in the butt to lug around while you're traveling, though...) but a desktop??? That's a LOT of excess weight and expense!

I plead insanity! Looks like it'll be a flash drive.
