I'll be honest, for me, in the beginning, it was as Saint stated, all about a woman. My ESL career began as a means to an end, a way for me to get to know a gal I met on the internet. To make a long story short, the relationship didn't work out, but I've grown to enjoy what I do, and where I do it. It's not any one particular thing, it's been an all around positive lifestyle change, and I'll continue to do it so long as I am enjoying myself. Hope that adds some insight.

Don't be too surprised if you hear many echo my sentiments with regards to their love, and/or sex lives. Many "average joes" are enjoying much improved circumstances in relation to what they we're used to in their country of origin. For many that's motivation enough.

Zhu hao,

Shawn

Chance brought me to Tokyo and everybody was doing it.
Should I stop?

Reminds me of a song I heard on the radio today,"...first I ran to you, now I run from you..." Cool huh? Know what it is?
How about this one, "...all your love you give to me when all your heart is all I need..." Ain't that the truth?
Sorry to stray.

Song sure sounds like "Tainted Love" by soft cell...

Back to the thread....

I've been saying I'm going to go do the teach english abroad thing for... well more than a couple years... but I was working on my BA... then I got a job to help me get some money in the bank and ended up with stock options that could dramatically change my life and at the same time ended up dating a girl who i met in mexico... (she was here for 5 months)

my first round of stock options will be vested in a couple weeks here, but she's back in mexico now, my need to be out of the country grows daily, and I want to go and polish my spanish and get to know her family even though the savings potential isn't as high as south korea... my original plan.

so my answer... I'm not there yet, but one woman, travel, and foreign language are my primary reasons for choosing mexico.

[code]Money!?...[quote]

This can be separated into two categories.

A) The few places where you can actually save money. As stated in my "Show Me the Money" thread, I still believe that this is a sham.

B) Going to a place and getting paid a tiny fraction of the per capita income of you home country yet feeling superior to the locals.

To live somewhere interesting and teach my kids about the value of life. Show them it is not just about money and there is a big world out there that is there to explore.
We spend about 3 months of the year travelling.

Also chicks! It's amazing how much I've gotten laid just because I speak English. It boggles my mind. I don't get it, but I will not question it.

Now there's cause for a present perfect vs past simple lesson I would think, my married friend. Wink
