Hey guys, I am graduating in the summer 07 and I will be applying to HESS (along with the many other schools) and I am interested to hear from teachers that work or have worked contract B (HLS f/t Kindy p/t) and contract C (kindy f/t HLS p/t) Can you tell me if the former is very tough, I mean, I guess if you teach 30 hours you week will be more like 60 hours after marking/grading etc. Is this right?
I heard that those on contract B are always tired etc and don;t have much of a life.
So, I ask, which am I better applying for?
Thanks guys |

Sorry, just re-looked at their website and can see that it states for contract C you will teach '25 hours per week at the kindergarten (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm), plus 6 to 10 hours per week at HLS.' Does that mean both contract B&C teach 30 hours per week? |

I haven't worked for Hess, but have worked alot in kindies. There is very little if any grading to be done for kids under the age of six as they cannot write.
Prep time for most classes (once you are up and running - about two months) should be no more than 15 minutes per one hour period and maybe less. 15 minutes is usually enough to prep for a whole morning of kindies.
Choose full time kindies. It may be illegal, but is so much more rewarding than older kids plus the hours are more sociable.
You should also check out www.kojenenglish.com (maybe .tw on the end). |
