				Hi everyone,

Maybe this has been covered already, but I haven't had the chance to go through the entire records on this forum concerning Shenzhen yet.

Here it is: I just moved to Shenzhen on a tourist visa last week, have an apartment and all, but no job. I have a BA and native fluency of both English and French, but no TEFL certificate. Can anyone recommend any schools or decent agencies preferably in the Futian district?

Thanx in advance |

Hang out in Shekou for a few days close to "Snake Street". You'll meet many different people and can probably find a job around there.

That's where I found my first job in China.

Just talk to the strangers.

You can also check out the "Shenzhen Daily." |

				| Cleverlearn has one office in Shekou and another in Futian (I think), or at least that was the situation in the spring of 2005. I wouldn't recommend Cleverlearn. I worked there (filling in some spare time while I was teaching at SZU) for a few weeks. They had a new Academic Coordinator then, a Canadian guy (I'm ashamed to say) who couldn't write proper English and who couldn't organize a two-car funeral procession. There are lots of other cram schools in Shenzhen. |

well, thanks for the advice. I have seemingly got a part-time thing starting soon with cleverlearn in Shekou teaching English and French. My main worry, however, is that they say they can't help me obtaining a work visa...i.e. I HAVE TO WORK ILLEGALLY!!

And as teaching jobs in China appear to be very semester-oriented, it looks like i have little choice but to do some pt and privates on my (L) visa until I can find a proper job (probably in Feb.) |
