Help me out guys, I'm on my way out of here at the end of December, but to buy my freedom I need to pay a hefty fine. That said, the easiest way to pay that is to use my credit cards to buy all my supplies for the month of december. Problem is, no one seems to take AMEX. Does anyone know of ANY place in Jakarta that takes it? Any where? |

That was quick...I guess Nusantara wasn't for you...
However, hefty fine? Why? It sounds to me like you have been a little over honest with your employers. So, you want to bolt. Be wise. Someone has died and you need to dash home. You'll be back in a week....
You don't sound overly enamoured with your time in Indonesia. Don't pay more than the exit fee and fiskal. Forget the fines.
This is the world of TEFL, where number one counts more than anything else. |

Well, thing is if I was dishonest and said I was just leaving for a week, then I would have had to leave a 9 million retainer, in addition to all of my things. Honesty really was the best choice here, but the question remains, has anyone seen anywhere that accepts AMEX? |

I'm fairly sure that Ranch Market accepts Amex, and what about Sogo?
Apart from that, fairly useless credit card to have in these parts. |

I thought schools were supposed to pay teachers for teaching, rather than take money from them?
Pity it didn't work out for you, better luck in the next place. |

Funny how that's works, languages schools not only harvest money from the students, but from teachers too. Hummm schools did I say?
Just another reason why teachers should be on a 457 visa not a 512, it gives both a chance to try it out without losing a lot, but come to think about it, only the teacher loses out, so it must be ok.

<cxxgxch cxcxxch> Yeah, the rope is choking just a bit, but I take solace in the fact that soon I'll be teaching at a university prep for $5000 US a month. Ah, the good life, and I jsut have to survive until Christmas day...uh oh, here they come for a pound of flesh... |
