dmb, y'all know that you and the missus are always welcome over! The flat warming will happen as soonas we turn on the kombi Very Happy Nah, really, we will have one as soon as we coordinate everyone's bizarroid schedules. I'm working an Islamic week (thurs and fri off) this season so it's a bit awkward.

You will know when its time to go.
You just wake up one morning and know you dont want to be there anymore. Until that happens, you don't really want to move.

To the OP:

Are you saving $$$ at your current post? Saving money is always a good thing in itself, and doing so makes your next move more feasible. I'd say for me, I wouldn't leave one place without having Plan B firmly in place. If you're not having a great time where you are, you could always use the time to save cash and line up your next move. Having money and knowing that there are other options out there might just chase the blues away. Running away is pretty disempowering, as opposed to carefully planning out a better situation for yourself. Plus, if you "escape" a crummy place, you'll feel crappy afterwards.

I have moved every three years, slowly working my way up the pay scale as I gained more exprience teaching. Currently at my new job, I have surpassed the 3 years and have re- set the time schedule for 5 years.

I am feeling antsy and ready for some thing new. However, I am very comfortable with my current job and accomodation. I agree that feelings of indecision is not the time to make a move. This is currently where I am at. I really have no idea where I want to move to next.

I expect to finish my master's Degree within my 5 year plan hopefully I will have figured out where I want to move to...I don't see my self continuing to live in KSA....but then again... who knows???
Venti sumed it up very well...

There are many days I wonder if the Gods determine our destiny and fate. This quote from the Godfather movie sums up my experience, "Just when I think I'm out, they keep pulling me back in." Really funny and strange things happen to me when I try to determine my own fate. The things I try to escape from keep following me everywhere I go. For example, Koreans. I take vacations in S.E. Asia and they just so happen to be on every single one of my tours for a whole month. I get tickets for anything and I'm sitting right next to them. I go to another country to get away and would you know it I'm stuck for weeks in a hotel that is completely packed with Koreans. AND they are begging me to TEACH them!!! I try to find work in another country and nothing seems like it will work. Then on the same day that my employer says they aren't renewing our contracts, I see an advertisement for a position with a large university where I would really like to work. I of course got a nice reply and more to follow on this story. Gods and fate.... I tell ya.

I knew it was time to go when I had to spray roaches everyday. Rolling Eyes
ok...well so I stuck it out in Egypt, but changed cities. I wanted to see all the sites that I've been dreaming about since I've been little.
I just couldn't put up with the lack of organization and the lies that were told to me by the director of the school. Evil or Very Mad
so I saw everything I could, packed my bags, and went home. Now I'm in South Korea. Smile so far, I feel very comfortable (I suppose it helps that my mother's Asian...) Laughing

but truth be told, I do still have dreams about parts of Egypt...

If we think hard and honest enough, I think we all know what it is that we want.

We all want to BELONG.

Listen OP, if you think there is a place where you belong, maybe it's time for you to go there.

If you don't have a place that you belong presently and you think you might find it somewhere else, then move on. Otherwise go with the flow and see where it takes you.

Good luck.

Well said Decon. And in addition, belonging is a two-way street...if you feel that you belong and the people around you (i.e. bosses/coworkers/townspeople) feel the same way, the question of moving will never arise except maybe out of curiosity.

I usually associate that sense of 'belonging' with home and certainly with other people, as guangho mentions. I think that long before you can get such a sense around other people or with a place, you first have to feel at home with yourself...to be comfortable in your own skin. Not saying that's related to the OP poster - just a 2 cents toss in from the gallery

That's very true Guy, the more I feel settled myself, the easier it is to be happy somewhere.

And with that I get ready for another bath.

Cute photo. Maybe you just need a dog or a cat. A pet would let you know for certain that you belonged everytime you got home.
