What?
Have you done a search of all the Shane threads?
Because I can assure you no one here who is replying to you will sift through all of the information that's already been posted just to find out the small slivers of information that have fallen through the gaps.
How about asking some specific questions? |

I knew a guy last year at a Japanese class who worked for Shane. He didn't know what an adjective was. Then again, there were people I worked with at Nova who didn't know either .
I think most will say Shane is pretty bad, but the guy who didn't know what an adjective is said they had good holidays, and the schedule sounded better than Nova. He was also paying 90,000 Yen a month for an apartment in an area where 40,000 is normal.
Is this the same school where the owner will post from time to time and try to get some people fired up? Or is that Smith's |

That would be Smith's, the first eikaiwa I've ever heard of referred to as a pyramid scheme.
Shane at least doesn't have that kind of stuff going on. I knew a guy at Nova who used to work at Shane. This is just one guy's opinion, esid and all that: He liked working at Nova better.... |

I enjoyed my fifteen months working for Shane, but that was five years ago - times may have changed since then. Certainly not going to post in detail I'm afraid - I have posted the plusses and minuses before. |

thanks for the links...they were helpful.
it's a very tedious process to sort through all of the witty little comments and other responses often contained in replies to serious questions on this site......maybe some of you should consider writing a book or doing something a bit more productive with your time....or since you all seem to be good pals, get together and laugh at each other.....just an idea!
i know some of you old pros in the english teaching world just can't be bothered.....fine...then don't post a response and waste everyone's time including your own.
i'm just as tired of reading everyone's useless replies as many of you seem to be hearing people ask the same questions....also, much of the info. on shane posted was from several years ago....if i remember correctly--but i'm sure there are a few of you who have the time to go look throught the links and come back to tell me i'm wrong.
there are 111 pages for tokyo......how much of the info. on these pages is relevant, or ever was?
hmmmmmmm..........go to it boys! |

oh! specific questions about shane......
1. do they have croissants and coffee for the teachers in the morning?
2. do i get a private car to take me around town to all of my lessons?
3. will they hire me if i don't know what an adjective is?
now....you can delete this thread as it is a waste of space and will be of no help to anyone in the future! |

My favorite "Anne O" post so far was when she started complaining because "i'm looking for info. on hong kong and it's frustrating to have to search through everything else."
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?p=470850&highlight=#470850
Apparently, after a year visiting this site, she was still too lazy to find/open the Hong Kong link....
Now, with regards to Shane, "Anne O" remains too lazy to conduct a simple search on her own. If she had, she'd have known that furiousmilksheikali only posted four of about thirty relevant links available.... |

This is what I get from google.com
Results 1 - 10 of about 127,000,000 for tokyo
Hint: Try more specific searches! Try more specific questions!
Wait...

You have quite the nerve. Come here, ask for information, then don't even bother to look it up right away.
We "old pros" sometimes have better things to do than expound on certain facts that you greenhorns should take the time to search for yourselves, anne o., especially with attitudes like yours. If you knew we were "pros", then you don't need more than a quick nod or shake of our proverbial heads to steer you toward or away from a bad employer.
Some of us "old pros" may have beaten the others to the punch in spoon-feeding you some links, so the rest of us don't need to give you more.
We "old pros" have established jobs that may require a lot of our time. Maybe it's work. Maybe it's looking for jobs just like you.
We "old pros" just might not care to be called "old pros" or "boys" like we were your pets.
The only thing we agree on is that your post should be deleted. Well, I don't speak for everyone, so let's just confine it to me. |

Let me help you here Anne_O
1 Shane was founded by an English guy, so I doubt they serve croissants. Perhaps scones and tea are provided every morning.
2 Of course, but youll need an international drivers license. Do a Google search for international drivers license and you can find some answers.
3 Well, as I previously posted, yes, you can get a job with Shane if you dont know what an adjective is.
Enjoy |
