I would like to think even at a tourist level any reasonable observation of human behavior could see that people here see us as a ways and means towards their existence. I met a girl, had a date once and she lost interest very quickly after learning I wouldn't pay her last months rent and look after her kid.

And Bali, well I was treated 100 % differently between the first time when I did a drinking holiday with other bules to the 2nd where I took a Javanese girl with me. The snide, sarcastic rudeness of these people shone through. So much for the balinese being lovely people with good hearts.

I wonder what type of 'International School' recruits people without relevant qualifications and/or experience.

There are several types of IS depending on your definition, there are good ones and bad ones. I don't fancy yours much Laughing

Regardless, I do hope you manage to stay there longer than a few weeks this time. And I hope you don't feel intimidated by the ladies who are not as free-thinking as yourself, but possess the relevant qualifications and experience to do their job.

But Gugel, I've been coming here for years...

if this was the case, why did you take the job in jakarta??...you should have already known that it was not to your liking. i have no problem with newcomers expressing their opinions here, but from what you are typing on this forum, i have to question your real knowledge of bali and how "great" it really is. personally, i hope bali suits you but you seemed a bit one-dimensional with your jakarta bashing and you will find some of the same things in bali.....i have found that "picky" people in indonesia don't tend to do well here................good luck

Yes, indeed. 'gado_gado' will still have to deal with those hated escalators even in his Bali paradise. Laughing
