I've not been to many parts of Mexico, but from what I hear, if you're looking for nightlife and beauty, some of the better (although very touristy) places are Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Acapulco, and Cancun. I've heard that PV and Cabo are a lot prettier and a lot more to do in terms of exploring their natural beauty. I was in Cabo and remember going ATVing through the dunes with my mom, which was amazing. Plus, we went whale watching, and saw dolphins swimming about 20 feet from the beach at our hotel. Cabo's night life is pretty low key, though. PV has some of the most diverse geography in the area from what I've heard. Also, very versatile night life, from sports bars to lounges to normal bars to Acapulco style clubs. Acapulco is nice to look at from the bay, or from the hills onto the bay, but not too muc to explore. The beaches aren't that great (they're rocky), it's just the view of and from the bay that's good. Might as well buy a postcard or two. The clubs are great if you're into the NY or LA style club nightlife. Cancun has beautiful beaches, okay scenery, and a good nightlife. Clubs aren't quite as ridiculous as Acapulco, but there's also more variety (aka fun bars that don't have thousands of people, flashing lights, and million dollar sound systems).
