Does anyone have private medical insurance or is the free health care good enough? Is private insurance expensive? |

I tried to get travel insurance from the UK and was quoted about 300... no-one in Arg seemed to think that that was worth it as I could get "rebuilt from scratch" in an Arg hospital. It was a bit of a risk though - I didn't find any insurance company that was prepared to insure me without a DNI - but someone might know a bit more. |

I've heard it's a good idea to get coverage, because if you get seriously sick or hurt the hospital bills are a lot less expensive than they would be if you're not covered. Always helps to have someone else pick up the slack, right?
Does anyone have recommendations for the best health insurance to go with in Argentina? I just signed up for a course in January, so I'll be needing coverage myself! |

Osde binario is supposed to be one of the best, although its pretty expensive by Argentinean standars. I've got family coverage for me, my wife and my son. It costs 620 pesos/month, although they are raising it to 720 as of January.
Kind of steep, but the coverage has been great. We've had it for 4 months, and used it for things like getting a doctor to come to you in the middle of the night, going to doctors/hospitals with good attention. It also includes dental. They have a cheaper plan, that was 470 pesos/month for 2006, and the only difference is that it excludes some of the top echelon hospitals...
For single coverage, Osde is cheap by U.S. standards.. No co-pays for office vists/hospital visits. |
