Just a quick query. I know that a bachelor's degree is needed to teach in most places in Asia but I was wondering if it has to be a 4 year degree? What happens if it is a 3 year bachelor's degree, will they not accept you? I am asking because I am going to school in Canada and in several provinces, the standard degree program is 3 years. I don't want to finish and then find out that I am out of luck. Thanks for any information. Take care.

Three years ago (pre-transcript check) my co-worker got by with a three year degree in Korea. China should be absolutely no problem. Why not just get the four year degree anyways? It will open more doors at home.

As long as it's a B.A. degree, it will be no problem.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. I am in a bit of conundrum at the moment. I need a degree to continue teaching English, and I am half done but I don't want to continue with my program and want to change to a general BA which is only three years. That is my quickest option. Take care.

The BA is fine - MAs in my experience aren't going to do much for you in the way of salary. I'd get the TEFL Cert before you pass your CV around. The world of EFL is small where the management are concerned and its good to have a solid reputation backed up the right certificates.

Then again you can do it the hard way! Shocked a long way to the top

I think it would depend on the country you are going too, 3 year degrees are ok in Taiwan, but Canada is a 4 year degree country unless it all changed...does it say on the degree how many years it took? I dont think it would so it would not matter,

the key is that your University is on the list of accepted schools for Taiwan, if your school is on the list you are ok.
