Jason you really must have too much time on your hands.

Unfortunately I dont.

I am going to have to take the advice of the boys on the Africa forum and ignore you in the hope that you get bored and wander away. I wont hold my breath, but one never knows ones luck.

I am going to regret weighing in again, but here goes.

Not to make you look stupid, but I was never talking to you in the first place. If you remember, I was giving someone advice when you rudely barged into my conversation and began an argument with me. I have been trying to get rid of you ever since. Are you really not going to bother me anymore? (please, please, please?)JS

Check out this thread from the beginning and you will see that you are the one who commenced the argument. You posted a suggestion. I posted a suggestion that was different to yours but didn't directly involve you. You took exception to what I posted and commenced an argument. Who looks stupid now!

You directly attacked my message with:

The chain schools come under some criticism for low rates of pay but realistically considering what they offer I personally believe that you could do a lot worse. Taking into consideration the support and training that you receive, the quality of the materials and classrooms toys etc that they have, and the peace of mind that working for these schools offer, I think that they are well worth investigating. Sure you can find other jobs in small schools that may offer more money, but there is always uncertainty there. This is not to say that you should avoid these schools, but you need to be wary which is difficult if you are a newcomer and are not sure of what to be wary of.

Seeburn - your a nut. There is no direct attack in my message nor is there any reference to you. As I stated earlier. You posted an opinion. I posted an opinion. You took exception to my opinion and started arguing with me by breaking down my opinion piece by piece. Get over it and move on!

For everyone reading, please note, that Mr. Seeburn only worked in Taiwan for 9 months and only recently started giving advice, some of it factually incorrect.

I've been doing this for almost 3 years and my handle can be seen on tealit, forumosa, and here.

I can't fix stupid, but I can call it when I see it.

I've been on vacation, so I've missed all the action. Seems that J-S is out for Trinity's title for flameouts and personal attacks. We have a new champion.

Jason, since your time in Taiwan has come to an end, may I --as gently as possible-- suggest that you find another way to fill your time aside from lengthy cyber shouting matches with strangers on the internet?

Actually, the shouting matches are one thing, but when you start dispensing advice to prospective teachers overseas, your behavior borders on dangerous. I was the victim of bad advice when I got here. It was a costly lesson. I know the value of good advice to prospective teachers. That is why I gave everyone the heads-up about your experience level and the fact that you don't live here anymore. I'm not out for a flame-out with you. However, I ask you sincerely to reflect on your own inexperience and ask yourself if you are qualified --as someone who left Taiwan while still a newbie-- to argue that you know "4 times" as much as anyone who's been here longer.

Maybe we should take the advice of the boys over on the Africa forum and just ignore Jason as he seems to relish the attention that he gets.

It is disturbing that sometimes the advice given by posters (not only Jason) is way off the mark. Of course time spent in Taiwan doesnt automatically make someone an expert on the subject, but I am sure that any reasonable person can appreciate that a single experience over a relatively short period of time doesnt qualify someone to give advice on a broad range of subjects islandwide.

Having said that, should anyone have an enquiry regarding opening a small school in the Fengyuan area near Taichung then Jason is your man.

I for one appreciate Jason Seeburns enthusiasm. If more people would at least try, Taiwan would be a much better place.
Back on Topic,
You can do a lot better than Hess. Hess is for the ignorant novice. A good place to start but a bad place to finish.
Good luck,
A.
