I applied to them two years ago, and again a year ago. They acknowledged my application the first time, but there was no followup, and no reply to my second application a year later. A colleague also applied and never heard anything. They advertise a salary up to US 30K.
Modesty aside--and hey, it's not like I'm Henry Kissinger or anything--I would have been a good fit for them: two MAs, 2 decades university EFL experience in Malaysia, Japan and the Middle East, 2 years Malaysia residence, married to a Malaysian. Gosh--do you think I'd rate a simple "yes" or "get lost," at least? What's up with that? What are they doing there--anything? |

The simple answer is that there are plenty of locals who can do the job. They probably put that ad up hoping that the Henry Kissinger of ESL would apply. |

Certainly, Saint. But then, Troy is an American state university out of Alabama. They're supposed to maintain faculty standards of their home campus. And they have the reputation of not doing that. Their campus here in the UAE--same story...unlike our UAE campus of George Mason University (Virginia), where faculty standards must be the same as the home campus. So, I guess I answered my own question, with your help. |
